What is Labiaplasty Surgery?

Enlarged vaginal lips can either be inherited through genetics or caused by pregnancy. This can not only affect the type of clothing that you wear, it can also cause a pinched feeling and other uncomfortable sensations during intercourse.

Labiaplasty is a simple surgical procedure that reduces the diameter and size of the vaginal lips, creating a smaller and more cosmetically-pleasing appearance. Doctor Erhard specializes in this procedure and will help you achieve your desired results without compromising surrounding tissues or affecting your sexual performance.

Typically an outpatient procedure, labiaplasty lasts about one hour and has permanent results.

Am I a Candidate for Labiaplasty in Minnesota?

During your consultation, Dr. Erhard will evaluate your individual condition as well as your health and medical history to determine if labiaplasty surgery is the best course of treatment for you. Typically, candidates for this procedure experience:

  • Pain or discomfort due to the size of their vaginal lips
  • Labia that are pigmented, thickened or asymmetrical
  • Unhappiness due to the enlarged appearance of their vagina
  • Feelings of awkwardness or embarrassment during intercourse

Doctor Erhard will discuss your cosmetic goals with you prior to surgery to help you achieve your desired outcome.

Before & After Results

What is the Recovery Like?

Post-surgical swelling and soreness is common for the first 24 hours and is typically easily controlled with ice and cold compresses*. After three days, most patients are able to return to normal activities and most swelling subsides*.

Full recovery takes about six weeks, during which time intercourse, tampon use, swimming in lakes or oceans, hot tubs and taking baths should be avoided. Some mild soreness may still be present for a few weeks after surgery, which can be controlled with anti-inflammatory medication*.

Although there is minimal risk with all surgical procedures, major side adverse reactions only tend to occur in one percent of labiaplasty patients. Doctor Erhard will advise you of any possible complications that may apply to you prior to surgery.

*Individual results may vary
